History
The history and foundry traditions of Dolnośląskie Zakłady Metalurgiczne go back to the year 1827 when a foundry plant was established there. At the outskirts of Nowa Sól of those days an iron mill was set up by Karl Heinrich Glaeser. In the mid-century Friedrich Wilhelm Krause became the owner of the mill. He and his son changed the mill into a huge foundry and enamel plant employing over 2000 workers before the World War II. For many years it produced castings and steel products. Depending on the political situation in Europe the then German factory named KRAUSEWERK (after its owner) was a supplier for the German arms industry and produced elements of household goods, agriculture, etc.
Under its present name the factory came to be known in 1946. Immediately after the war the Polish resumed production and till the 90’ties Dolnośląskie Zakłady Metalurgiczne “Dozamet”was one of the greatest industrial enterprises in the town. As years went by DOZAMET extended its production range to become the leading manufacturer of foundry machinery and equipment in Poland and a winner of many awards, distinctions and medals for world achievements in the field of foundry machinery and equipment at national and international fairs and exhibitions.
On the basis of Dozamet’s experience a few companies engaged in production of machines emerged in Nowa Sól. The political transformations in Poland in the beginning of the 90’ties and lack of efforts to adapt the company the new economic conditions brought about its decline. Due to a private investor DOZAMET successfully overcame the problems of economic transformation, managed to maintain production and now it continues to offer a wide range of castings, machines, equipment and spare parts and to provide services.
